Job Overview
The Ministry of Planning, Development & Special Initiatives, Government of Pakistan, has advertised one contract position of Consultant – Science and Technology at grade SPPS-III. The vacancy is listed on the National Job Portal and is open until 28 September 2026.
The role sits at the centre of national science and technology policy work, where the consultant studies current trends and turns that analysis into advice for policy development and strategic planning. The work also involves the wider research and innovation system.
The consultant works with stakeholders to identify priority areas for research and innovation investment, evaluates how science and technology initiatives affect national development goals, and develops frameworks that promote public-private partnerships in research and development. Recommendations on strengthening the national science and technology infrastructure are expected to be expert and research-based.
The consultant also supports capability building in the sector, prepares reports and presentations on science and technology advancements, and engages with international organizations for collaboration and knowledge exchange. Monitoring emerging technologies for their potential contribution to economic growth and advocating evidence-based policies for sustainable technological advancement are part of the assignment.
The post holder may be asked to carry out any other task assigned by the Prime Minister, Minister and/or Secretary, PD&SI.

Eligibility & Qualifications
- At least 7 years of experience is required.
- A postgraduate qualification is required in one of the fields listed in the advertisement, which include PGD, MSc, MS, MPhil, Master of Engineering, EMBA, Executive Master and FCPS level programmes.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate capacity-building programs to strengthen skills in the science and technology sector.
- Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations on science and technology advancements.
