Job Overview

Pakistan Reinsurance Company Limited, a Government of Pakistan organisation, is recruiting a Shariah Advisor on a contract basis. The engagement is for two years, extendable as the Company requires, by mutual agreement of both parties and subject to approval of the Board of Directors.

The Shariah Advisor's work centres on issuing Shariah rulings in Fiqh ul Muamulat and applying knowledge of Islamic finance and Takaful or Re Takaful. The notice sets two alternative qualification routes.

Proficiency in English and knowledge of applicable Pakistani laws are essential.

Eligibility & Qualifications

• Shahadat ul Aalamiyyah degree (Darse Nizami) from any recognised Board of Madaris, plus a bachelor's degree recognised by HEC with a minimum of second class, and at least four years of experience issuing Shariah rulings in Fiqh ul Muamulat, including the period of Takhasus fil Ifta.
• Alternative route: a postgraduate degree in Islamic jurisprudence or Usooluddin, or an LL.M (Shariah), together with a suitable certificate.
• Minimum seven years of experience as a Shariah Advisor in the Takaful industry.
• Preference will be given to candidates with experience of teaching Islamic finance at reputable educational institutions in Pakistan, or those holding an M.Phil or Ph.D. in Islamic Finance.
• The eligibility criteria list the following qualifications: BS Usuluddin (Islamic Studies), LLB Shariah and Law, MS Usuluddin (Islamic Studies), Shahadat-ul-Aalamia, MA Dars-e-Nizami, and BA Shariah Islamic Law.
• Age Limit Required: Maximum 55 years of age as on the closing date of applications.
