The Climate Finance Unit (CFU) within the Planning & Development Department is hiring a Climate Data Specialist to strengthen its data-driven decision-making.
This role sits at the intersection of climate science, data analysis, and policy support, helping the unit assess climate risks and measure the impact of its projects.
You will be responsible for building and maintaining the data infrastructure that underpins the CFU's work.
That means collecting and managing climate and environmental data, developing models for GHG emission calculations, and producing clear reports for diverse audiences.
The role also involves close collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders, including scientists, policymakers, and financial experts.

Eligibility and Qualification
Candidates must meet the following eligibility criteria
- Master's degree or higher in Climate Science, Atmospheric Science, Environmental Science, Data Science, Statistics, or Economics with a focus on climate change analysis.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in data analysis or climate science, with a proven track record of working with climate data, statistical analysis, and modelling.
- Experience in GHG accounting, climate impact assessments, and familiarity with climate finance and sustainability projects.
- Proficiency in data analysis software, statistical tools, and GIS applications.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, analyse, and interpret large datasets to derive meaningful insights.
- Expertise in climate modelling, risk assessment, and GHG accounting methodologies.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of presenting complex data insights in an accessible and actionable format.
- Collaborative team player with the ability to engage with a range of stakeholders, including scientists, policymakers, and financial experts.

Responsibilities
- Collect and manage climate and environmental data, ensuring it is accurate, comprehensive, and accessible for analysis.
- Conduct data analysis to assess climate risks, evaluate the impact of climate finance projects, and inform strategic decisions within the CFU.
- Develop and maintain models and tools for GHG emission calculations, climate risk assessments, and other relevant analyses.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to gather data inputs, share findings, and support climate finance and resilience projects.
- Produce reports and presentations that communicate complex data and analysis results in a clear and actionable manner for various audiences.
- Stay updated on the latest climate science research, data methodologies, and technological advancements to continually enhance the CFU's data capabilities.
