Job Overview
The Director Operations will lead the day-to-day running of the Orange Line Metro Rail Transit System (OLMRTS), one of Pakistan's flagship urban mass transit projects.
The role carries responsibility for ensuring the safety, efficiency, and reliability of train services, and for driving continuous improvement across technical and operational performance.
The Director will work closely with engineering teams, operations staff, and external stakeholders to deliver smooth operations.
This includes monitoring train schedules, overseeing maintenance of trains and associated systems, and implementing safety procedures for staff and passengers.
The role also involves managing technical projects, vendor relationships, and procurement activities, as well as contributing to strategic planning and team management.
This is a contract position, offering an opportunity to play a pivotal role in the ongoing success and development of the Orange Line, which serves thousands of daily commuters in Lahore.
The successful candidate will be expected to foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and high performance, and to align departmental goals with the broader operational strategies of the authority.
Eligibility and Qualification
Candidates must meet the following eligibility criteria
- Masters in Transportation Engineering OR Masters in Civil Engineering with courses done in Transportation Engineering as part of the Programme, from an HEC recognized institute.
- MS/M-Phill (18 years) with 8 years of relevant experience.
- Experience in a leadership role in management of transport related public projects will be preferred.
- Age: 25 to 45 years. Gender: Both.

Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the OLMRTS services, ensuring safety, efficiency, reliability, and performance of the train systems.
- Monitor the technical aspects of train operations and system optimization.
- Work closely with engineering teams, operations staff, and external stakeholders to deliver smooth and seamless operations.
- Monitor train schedules and operator performance.
- Oversee the maintenance of trains and associated technical systems.
- Implement safety procedures for operational staff and passengers, including emergency response plans, incident management, and equipment handling.
- Conduct inspections on systems, procedures, and staff performance for smooth and safe operations.
- Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, high performance and collaborate with other departments.
- Continuously monitor the technical performance of OLMRTS and identify areas for improvement in efficiency and reliability.
- Review data analytics, operational reports, and incident reports to identify trends and propose improvements.
