Job Overview
The Project Management Unit (PMU) at Sultanabad Jutal, Gilgit Baltistan, is looking for a GIS Specialist to support the development and management of GIS applications that respond to evolving project needs.
Working under the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training, this contract position focuses on the planning and coordination of GIS activities to meet project goals, ensuring that data capture, analysis, and mapping outputs align with the project's objectives.
The role involves overseeing data flow, management, and distribution to support GIS operations, as well as participating in the design and development of the geospatial database.
The officer will maintain accurate geospatial documentation, stay current with developments in the GIS field, and assist in developing the project work plan.
Efficient management of the geospatial database and production of effective maps and aerial photography are central to the position, along with any other duties assigned by the Project Director.
Eligibility and Qualification
Candidates must meet the following criteria
- MS in Information Technology (MS IT)
- 5 years of relevant experience in monitoring and evaluation of projects
- Maximum age limit: 62 years
- Domicile quota: Open
Responsibilities
- Support and develop the development and management of GIS applications based on growing and improving project demands
- Oversee the planning and coordination of GIS activities to meet the outlined goals of the project
- Develop and manage control quality standards for system application
- Perform data capture and analysis for GIS products
- Oversee data flow, management, and distribution activities that support GIS
- Support and participate in the designing and development of the geospatial database
- Maintain up-to-date and accurate geospatial documentation for reference purposes
- Stay abreast with the latest developments in the GIS field
- Support the development of a work plan for the project
- Efficiently manage the geospatial database and develop effective maps and aerial photography
