Job Overview
This contract position sits within the Project Management Unit (PMU) for Astore, Gilgit Baltistan, under the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training.
The officer will support the development and management of GIS applications that respond to evolving project demands, ensuring that spatial data and mapping outputs align with project goals.
The role combines technical GIS expertise with monitoring and evaluation duties.
You will oversee data capture, analysis, and quality control, maintain geospatial databases, and produce maps and aerial photography.
The position also involves coordinating GIS activities, preparing project work plans, and staying current with developments in the field.
As part of the PMU, you will contribute to the effective implementation of project activities in a challenging geographic context.
The role reports to the Project Director and may include additional duties as assigned.
Eligibility and Qualification
Candidates must meet the following criteria
- MS in Information Technology (MS IT)
- 5 years of relevant experience in monitoring & evaluation of projects
- Domicile quota: Open
- Age limit: Maximum 62 years
Responsibilities
- Support and develop the development and management of GIS applications based on growing and improving project demands
- Oversee the planning and coordination of GIS activities to meet outlined project goals
- Develop and manage control quality standards for system applications
- Perform data capture and analysis for GIS products
- Oversee data flow, management, and distribution activities supporting GIS
- Support and participate in the design and development of the geospatial database
- Maintain up-to-date and accurate geospatial documentation for reference purposes
- Stay abreast of the latest developments in the GIS field
- Support the development of a work plan for the project
- Efficiently manage the geospatial database and develop effective maps and aerial photography
