Job Description

The National IT Board (NITB), a federal government body under the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication, is hiring a Contract Cyber Security Analyst (SOC) for its Security Operations Center in Islamabad. This role is critical for safeguarding government networks and information against cyber threats.

The analyst will monitor the SIEM platform 24/7, respond to security incidents, carry out vulnerability assessments, and uphold compliance with PECA 2016 and NITB security policies. The position is best-suited for cybersecurity professionals with hands-on SOC experience and related certifications like CISSP, CEH, or CompTIA Security+.

It provides a shot to function on national-level cybersecurity infrastructure and contribute to Pakistan's digital security posture.

Salary & Compensation

Estimated marketplace salary: PKR 35,000 – 55,000 per month.

Qualification

Applicants must keep a Master's degree (16 years education) in Cybersecurity or Computer Science from a recognized university. Many related qualifications are accepted, covering BS/MS in Computer Science, Info Technology, Cybersecurity, and other IT disciplines.

Also, mandatory cybersecurity certification (CISSP, CEH, or CompTIA Security+) is needed.

• Master's degree (16 years education) in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a carefully related field.
• Accepted degrees contain: MS/MSc in Computer Science, Data Technology, Cybersecurity, MPhil Computer Science, MIT, and others listed in the advertisement.
• Mandatory certification in cybersecurity: CISSP, CEH, or CompTIA Security+.
• Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in SOC operations, incident response, or cybersecurity.
• Age limit: Maximum 45 years (age relaxation by now included).
• Experience in SIEM monitoring, vulnerability assessment, and firewall management is preferred.

Role Responsibilities

• Monitor SIEM platform 24/7 for security alerts, anomalies, intrusions, and threat events.
• Respond to security incidents: perform first triage, containment, and escalation per incident response blueprints.
• Run vulnerability assessments, log analysis, and access reviews over all Fusion Center platforms.
• Keep up SOC records, audit trails, and compliance reports per PECA 2016 and NITB security policy.
• Define and maintain firewall rules, security configurations, and access control policies.
• Collaborate with other teams to improve security posture and put in place proven techniques.

• This is a contract position under grade PPS-9.
