Job Description
Ignite – National Technology Fund, a Government of Pakistan entity under the Ministry of Details Technology & Telecommunication, is hiring a Contract Head of AI. This senior role leads the rollout, coordination, and operational management of the National AI Innovation Hub (NAIIH) and other AI initiatives.
Reporting to the GM Projects, the Head of AI supervises programme execution, stakeholder coordination, venture governance, and achievement of objectives related to AI network development. The position functions tightly with government stakeholders, sector partners, academia, development partners, and technology network participants.
The incumbent supplies technical and targeted guidance on AI-related initiatives and contributes to strengthening Pakistan's AI innovation and infrastructure space. Important responsibilities involve overseeing programme delivery, vendor and operator performance, and alignment with national priorities.
The work domain also backs institutional decision-making by providing subject matter expertise on AI technologies, governance frameworks, and new movements. This contract position is located in Islamabad and presents an chance to shape Pakistan's sovereign AI network.
Salary & Compensation
Estimated marketplace salary: PKR 120,000 – 250,000 per month.
Qualification
Applicants must keep a Master’s degree in Computing, Computer Science, Data Technology, or a carefully related discipline from a recognised institution. A minimum of 12 years of progressive experience in design, procurement, or execution of large-scale digital systems is called for.
- Master’s degree in Computing, Computer Science, Info Technology, or tightly related field from a recognised institution.
- Minimum 12 years of progressive experience in design, procurement, or rollout of large-scale digital systems.
- Demonstrated leadership of national-scale digital platforms or programmes with accountability for delivery outcomes and stakeholder engagement.
- Experience advising on programme design and procurement specifications for national digital infrastructure, ideally covering AI, HPC, or data platform initiatives.
- Experience with managed-services or vendor-delivered programmes, such as governance of third-party operators against SLAs.
- Functioning understanding of sovereign AI infrastructure, cloud and hybrid compute, information platforms, and integration architectures.
- Familiarity with AI governance, responsible-AI principles, and relevant national records protection frameworks.
- Procurement and contract governance competencies covering RFP/TOR drafting, bid evaluation, performance-based contracting, and SLA frameworks.
Role Responsibilities
- Lead execution, coordination, and operational management of the National AI Innovation Hub (NAIIH) and related AI initiatives.
- Give planned and technical leadership for planning, execution, monitoring, and continuous improvement of AI infrastructure and network development programmes.
- Aid development and rollout of Pakistan's sovereign AI network, making sure alignment with approved objectives and national priorities.
- Manage programme delivery and monitor performance of operators, vendors, consultants, and implementation partners to make sure compliance with contractual obligations and SLAs.
- Provide technical oversight of AI compute infrastructure, AI platforms, figures repositories, and related solutions under the NAIIH programme.
- Assess and propose on technical architectures, solution designs, infrastructure enhancements, and primary adjust requests related to AI programmes.
- Contribute to development of foundation models, Urdu and regional language AI capabilities, AI-as-a-Service offerings, and other network-strengthening initiatives.
- Arrange with MoITT, government entities, development partners, academia, field stakeholders, and network participants for programme execution.
