Job Description

The Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad (ISSI) is hiring a Steady Research Associate in BPS-17. This role is for a researcher with a center on India/South Asia, contributing to policy-oriented studies and publications.

The position suits early-career analysts with a Masters or equivalent (16 years) in International Relations, Political Science, Defense & Strategic Studies, Peace & Conflict Studies, or related disciplines. The selected applicant will work on strategic matters, produce research papers, and support the institute's analytical output.

ISSI is a premier believe tank providing a platform for scholars to engage with Pakistan's foreign policy and security challenges. This is a full-time, government-grade position with one vacancy.

Salary & Compensation

Estimated marketplace salary: PKR 70,000 – 100,000 per month.

Qualification

Candidates must keep a Masters or equivalent (16 years) in IR, Political Science, Defense & Strategic Studies, Peace & Conflict Studies, or comparable fields, with preference for India/South Asia concentrate. Minimum 2 years research experience at a reputable institution and 2 publications in HEC-recognized journals are needed.

  • Masters or equivalent (16 years) in International Relations, Political Science, Defense & Strategic Studies, Peace & Conflict Studies, or related discipline.
  • Preference for candidates with specialization in India/South Asia studies.
  • Minimum 2 years of research experience at a reputable university or institution.
  • At least 2 research publications in HEC-recognized journals.
  • Age limit: maximum 35 years (federal age relaxation rules apply).
  • Eligible degrees contain BS, MA, MSc, MPhil, MS in relevant fields as listed in the advertisement.

Role Responsibilities

  • Carry out research on strategic and security concerns, especially related to India and South Asia.
  • Write research papers, policy briefs, and articles for publication in HEC-recognized journals.
  • Assist in organizing seminars, conferences, and roundtables.
  • Contribute to the institute's research projects and publications.
  • Analyze regional and global political developments.
  • Get ready reports and briefings for senior management.
