Job Overview
The Punjab Environment Protection Department is hiring a Technology Based Carbon Specialist for the CM Punjab Green Credit Program.
This is a senior technical role focused on developing and managing carbon credit projects across the province.
The specialist will sit within the department's climate change wing and will be responsible for the entire lifecycle of carbon credit initiatives, from identifying potential public sector projects to monetizing the resulting credits.
The role requires a blend of technical engineering knowledge and practical experience in green finance and carbon markets.
The specialist will review public sector projects to assess their carbon credit potential, prepare project information notes (PINs), and coordinate the development of Project Design Documents (PDDs).
A key part of the job involves liaising with international evaluators and consulting firms to ensure successful project registration, validation, and verification under recognized standards like CDM.
Beyond project development, the position involves tracking project progress, coordinating with relevant government departments, and building the capacity of the departmental team on all practical aspects of carbon credits.
The specialist will also handle any other tasks assigned by higher authorities, making this a dynamic role at the forefront of Pakistan's environmental finance efforts.
Eligibility and Qualification
Candidates must meet the following eligibility criteria
- Master's degree (18 years' qualification) in Transport Engineering, Civil Engineering, Urban Planning, Energy Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Environmental Engineering from an HEC recognized university.
- 08 years of relevant experience.
- Experience in management positions dealing with environmental matters in the area of green finance, carbon markets, project identification notes, project development document green markets, green and sustainable practices, CDM, etc.
- Domicile is required for this position.
- Age: 30 – 50 years. Gender: Both.
Responsibilities
- Preparation of project information notes & coordinate for completion of PDDs.
- Coordinate with the international evaluators/ consulting firms for successful development and registration of projects, validation/ verification through VVBs, MRV and then monetization of the carbon credits.
- Responsible for necessary coordination with the relevant departments and authorities.
- Carryout complete cycle of carbon credits right starting from preparation of PINs to monetization of credits.
